Optical Coatings – Opti-SP3EC™

Opti-SP3EC™ is a species of the SP3EC™ nanocrystalline diamond thin film family, which has been engineered specifically for optical substrates to optimize infrared transmission, friction and increase wear and abrasion resistance.

Opti-SP3EC™ coating can be engineered to maximize transmission on various substrates between 2-5 micron wavelengths and 7-13 micron wavelengths. For optical polymers, Opti-SP3EC™ can be used to increase the mechanical properties while creating little optical degradation, even in the visual wavelengths.

Durable Anti-Reflective (A/R) Diamond Coatings are coatings designed to enhance the transmission through the substrate by attenuating the reflection off of the substrate surfaces by also increasing the durability of the substrate. UPT has developed monochromatic as well as composite anti-reflective coatings for various applications.

The coating is applied using a Plasma-Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition (PECVD) chamber at room temperature. The coating is conformal and can be applied to complex geometries.
