Diamond coatings over the past few decades have gained a respectable amount of attention, due to their exotic mechanical, electrical, and optical properties. Typical benefits include: Maximum surface hardness, extremely low coefficient of friction, exceptional wear properties, excellent dielectric material, high thermal conductivity, optical transparency in IR wavelengths and many more. UPT is currently working on developing their exclusive SP3EC coating to enhance surface substrates far beyond industry common DLC coatings. Some typical application enhancements include:

Currently aviation engineers are forced to limit the use of composite materials and aluminum in certain areas of an aircraft due to a common phenomenon known as "Galvanic Corrosion". When certain materials, such as aluminum and steel, are in direct contact, a galvanic cell is created, and the resulting voltage potential leads to a charge transfer which corrodes one of the materials. Corrosion of parts in industrial applications has caused countless hours of downtime and an abundance of company resources. UPT is developing new methods for solving these issues with the help of a state-of-the-art thin film coating protection technology.
